Ananda collaborates with SUMAYA to introduce bespoke fitness programs

SUMAYA, the brainchild of Sumaya Dalmia who is renowned for her contribution towards changing the face of the Indian fitness industry over the last two decades will now enhance the fitness offerings at Ananda. SUMAYA’s core focus is personal training and at Ananda she will bring her expertise to introduce a completely tailor made fitness schedule within our signature wellness programs. Each guest’s unique wellness journey at Ananda will start with a fitness consultation with a SUMAYA trained and certified fitness trainer followed by a body composition analysis, personal training, diet customization and summed up with a de-brief and lifestyle consultation at the end of the stay. Dedicated fitness and advanced core strengthening programs will also be launched shortly for serious fitness enthusiasts.

Ananda Weight Management Program

Unhealthy weight is known to be the root cause for most lifestyle related diseases. Achieving a healthy body weight is an uphill task but with the right guidance this journey can be enjoyable and rewarding and will leave you with insights to lead a healthy life thereafter.

The Ananda Weight Management Program addresses the physical and emotional challenges associated with weight loss and weight maintenance. An individual’s unique body type and reasons for weight gain are identified through Ayurvedic consultation at the start of the program and a detailed spa regime with both Western and Ayurvedic treatments along with a SUMAYA designed fitness schedule is defined for the duration of the stay. Welcome Gregory Ugrin as Director – Spa Training

A multi-faceted professional, Gregory specializes in therapeutic massage, myofascial release, deep tissue massage, Lomi Lomi, Thai yoga massage, neuromuscular therapy, Swedish massage, hot stone therapy, Ayurvedic balancing, and a wide variety of luxury body treatments.

He is passionate about integrating the best of modern therapeutic bodywork with ancient and holistic wellness sciences like Ayurveda, Yoga and energy work like Reiki. He is also a trained Zumba fitness instructor and is richly experienced in guiding movement and group fitness classes including Zumba Fitness, Nia Technique, and other dance modalities.

His expertise will ensure the continued growth and development of Ananda’s award-winning team of spa therapists, and further strengthen our positioning as the leading destination spa.

Yoga Guru Kirit Thacker shares Yoga asanas to strengthen the core

Naukasana (boat pose)

Lie on your back with legs together and palms flat on the floor. Breathe in deeply. Hold the breath and then raise the legs, arms, shoulders, head and trunk off the ground. The shoulders and feet should be no more than 15 cm off the floor. Balance the body on the buttocks and keep the spine straight. The arms should be held at the same level and in line with the toes. The hands should be open with the palms down. Remain in the final position for as long as comfortable. Breathe out and return to the supine position. Relax the whole body. This is one round. Practise 5 rounds.
