Spirit Of Ananda Jan 2015

Namaskar from Ananda in the Himalayas,

In this first issue of Spirit of Ananda in 2015 we would like to inform you of some notable achievements in the year gone by and what to look forward to in the year to come. We have taken some bold steps in social and environmental sustainability which we are very proud of. We have also enhanced several of our services and have a really exciting line up of Visiting Masters in the coming year.

There have been substantial product enhancements in 2014 across several areas to keep the hotel looking fresh and renewed. Of special note is the Vice Regal Suite located in the Viceregal Palace which has been restored and refurbished.

Wishing you a happy and prosperous 2015.

In an effort to be more ecologically conscious and to eradicate the use of plastic water bottles, Ananda set up its very own water plant and now uses only reusable glass bottles that are bottled at this plant. This initiative has been able to reduce 2300 kilos of plastic waste created by used water bottles annually.

Santosi Thapa (Right)- Our first student to join the Ananda spa institute from the “Women’s Empowerment Fund”

In 2014 we launched the Women’s Empowerment Initiative at Ananda. Through this program we invite our guest to join hands with Ananda in supporting the underprivileged women of the surrounding Uttarakhand community. Towards this effort a voluntary contribution is made by our guests. The contribution is collectively being used towards formal vocational education of the underprivileged women of Uttarakhand. Each deserving candidate is enrolled for a full certification course at the Ananda Spa Institute located in Hyderabad, India. For each rupee contributed by our guests, the Ananda Spa Institute offers an equivalent amount toward sponsoring the cost of the course.

The first 3 women students as part of this initiative commenced their certification course in November 2014 and we are happy to report that they are performing well with bright future prospects. Our sincere thanks to all our guests who have made this possible

In keeping with our efforts to provide activities that stimulate our mind, body & intellect we have started a weekly Keertan singing performance, by the young students of Ramana Seva Samiti, (An Orphanage and Education Centre). The property resonates with the melodious music and verses from the ancient scriptures. This performance promises a vivid glimpse into the spiritual teachings and culture of India.

– Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati of Parmarth Niketan Ashram will hold periodic talks at Ananda through this coming year. Sadhviji, a Stanford graduate, came to India 17 years ago. What she thought was going to be a semester break from her PhD program, turned out to be the turning point of her life. She has lived, for the last 17 years, on one of India’s most renowned and sacred ashrams, Parmarth Niketan, on the banks of the Ganges. She lives in the seva of one of India’s most revered spiritual teachers, His Holiness Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, the spiritual head and president of Parmarth Niketan and also the founder/chairman of an international non-profit humanitarian organization called India Heritage Research Foundation. She spend her days engaged in a variety of seva (service) including teaching meditation, counseling and coaching on life and spirituality, writing articles and books, giving lectures and question-answer sessions, and helping to oversee the vast humanitarian and charitable projects run under Pujya Swamiji’s inspiration and guidance and any other need that arises.

Sadhviji’s next scheduled talks at Ananda are on the 9th & 18th of February 2015

We have an impressive lineup of visiting masters in 2015 who are leaders in their specific area of wellness. The first 2 Visiting Masters in 2015 are Sheila Greene in the month of January and Richard Curall in February.

Sheila Green was a visiting Master at Ananda last year for her special BUQI healing Practices. Guests that experienced her program felt emotionally cleansed and profoundly healed.
